I'm still not getting notifications, so if it takes me a bit to find/reply to your comment, please don't be offended. :) This has been going on since Monday and I have checked all my settings. I get notifications of replies to comments I make in other people's journals, and of the virtual gifts everyone on my friends list is getting, but not replies to my entries.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one contending with this?

Here is the layout I am thinking of - I want to get a Papasan stool with a cushion from Pier 1 for the rocker:

The closet isn't going to have doors, and probably not a rod either. We're going to paint the interior the Greentree color in the paint color photo:

I don't find hanging stuff in Josh's closet all that helpful. But maybe we will have a rod... it might just be higher up. There's currently 2 shelves in the closet and our desk below, so I am thinking a taller chest of drawers would be a good option to fit in the desk space. This is the closet now:

I inquired about a retro/romantic-ish looking one for $30 on Craigslist - hopefully I hear back. I think it would look cute with...

my retro sewing desk that we're going to revamp into a changing table. I decided we put a back & side panels of plywood covered with fabric in the usual chair area, and then make some shelves to fit on dowels to sit inside level with the drawers to put diapers/wipes/baskets of changing pad covers/etc. It's going to go under the window where I hope to have a cute birdie mobile hanging and the changing table pad with surround will go on top. I'm thinking the window curtains will be this:

and then the changing table surround will be the laminated version of this:

and the inside of the desk shelving will be one of these:

Then.... I am planning that the wall between the changing table & crib (the long wall) will have a huge mural of some sort. The crib is going to be in the corner with 3 of these leaves

over top as a canopy with white fairy lights attached underneath and fabric over the sides & back (well out of the reach of little hands). Like this:

I'm also thinking about attaching butterflies/etc to the leaves, but we'll see.

And so far that's it.... I really am excited to start the quilt soon!

anyone have any experience with making Invisible bookshelves? I think this is what I want to do in the living room, utilizing some photo albums I never used (red ones) as the base of each of the shelves. I'm thinking of making 3.

Thanks for the input on my poll! I was thinking about it last night at work and it's an even toss between the bedroom & kitchen, so I'm going to go with the kitchen. It needs the least work and money (an area rug, some embellishment to the wallpaper backsplash which I have the supplies for, a new light fixture, and probably some sheers to go behind the drapes on the glass doors... and *maybe* handles but I'm not totally sold on that yet). I'll let you all know when I finally enter. :)

Some things to keep in mind:

I am planning on getting these Kajsa drapes for the bathroom and then making a similar "ogee" wavy design in grey on the wall behind the toilet, also changing out to a hot pink bathmat & grey hand towel. Which I will do sooner than later if it is going to be featured on AT.

I moved my huge Marimekko print into the dining area since it didn't fit into the bedroom's color scheme anymore and since my triptych art is being featured in the gallery. I think it actually looks better.

The bedroom - I would really like to add the screen setup to the bed and add in the painting I have in mind over the dresser. I also have to embellish the drapes/sheers for the windows. And the walls need some revamping. But I have shelves in my possession for the wall next to the window (where the feather pic is).

I'm interested to see what you all think because I am having a hard time deciding. :) And thank you in advance for your input!

I have until 10/12 to enter.

Not really. But today is going to be my "work" day after spending all weekend on the house. Friday was a waste because I was exhausted. I did find out that I need to use vectors and not .jpg's with the vinyl plotter, and that may be leading to jagged edges. Also found out that I need to cut & paste vector images into the LXI (plotter) software, not import, or else it won't be able to find the edges & send that to the plotter. Hoping to get a good amount done before Jason gets home today. I bought the latest Corel Draw suite with some profits since I couldn't find any Adobe Illustrators (past or present) for less than that on eBay. The suite ended up being $99 on eBay. Hopefully it works. It is supposed to be the full program, not an update. Progress for today (hopefully): 2 sets of lettering, finish Cat in the Hat, saucers & hexagons, completed jellyfish sketch. Tomorrow: finish Chicago mockup, finish portfolio. Wednesday: mail off some stuff & set up new listings & work on new skyline order. Thursday: mail out new skyline order. Friday: doc appt and relax.

Saturday was the wedding that I hand-cut all the letters for and made the navy skyline. I emailed the lady to see how it had gone, and this was her reply:

"I'll send pics later, but it went VERY well! so happy about the results!!! talk soon!"

YAY! That makes me feel more motivated.

So, pictures of house

Some thoughts on the bedroom:
-I love how the wall color looks with the closet doors and the faces poster.
-I think I am going to put the peacock portrait on the wall by the door (where the illustration currently is).
-I'm going to hang the faces poster over the dresser and then incorporate a large vinyl silhouette of one of the faces to the left of it, overlapping it (taller/wider). I *just* ordered purple vinyl - it could work well.
-I am thinking about finding a wall-hanging (sculpture, starburst, something) to hang where the peacock portrait was
-not sure what exactly to put behind the bed. Poi, your hoops are giving me some ideas... like designing an image on fabric and then breaking it up into a series of hoops that I connect and hang at the head of the bed. Hmmm.
-I ordered sheer dark lilac & cerise panels from Ikea... I am thinking of stitching them together (cerise on top and lilac on bottom) to be 2 layers and put one dual panel on each window pulled back to the side. Also, since they are solid, I want to get a yellow/gold fabric marker and draw some saucers/ogees on the top panel.
-I can't wait to see how the bedding looks!

Living room/woodstove revamp:

the beginning

during (this morning)

-we are going to add in some trim to the center opening around the brick, to make the sides more substantial and make the edges look more finished
-there are going to be 3 or 4 shelves on each side... I'm thinking of staggering them... ie: the ones on the left start higher than the ones on the right... thoughts?
-I'm thinking once the rest of the room is complete, furniture and all, we may consider painting the inside brick a different color
-I am also thinking we may need to use some polyshades (stain/varnish in one) to warm up the color of the wood. But I'm reserving judgement till everything else is done (ie: wall hanging back in place, shelves in place, etc)
-there are going to be smaller chairs on each side
-it's much brighter in here
-I'd love to see this with an orange malm fireplace! Maybe we'll be able to get that next tax return? (2010-2011)

Hoping to finish the shelves and painting tonite!

what do you all think about me selling this painting also? Is it too similar to the plexi piece to sell both at the same time?

(obviously they're a bit different in style and the painting is huge 50x50 while the plexi is 10x8)

The prices are a bit higher than what I might charge if selling them independently, but I am also taking the 60/40% split into consideration.

Psychedelic Sunset Triptych - $225 (each panel measures 24"x24")

Lady's Got a Gun plexi art - $70 (10"x8")

Just got my 2nd request for a custom design from a stranger! (sounds bad, but y'all know what I mean.) :)

Now to go finish working on Josh's racecar... I napped half-heartedly for about an hour & a half on the couch (half-heartedly = very lightly, while subconsciously keeping an eye if the toddler next to me was on the couch or possibly falling off of the couch or if he had left the room...)

I updated my Etsy shop with some paintings for sale.

I know the shipping looks high, but Jason called the UPS store and the biggest they can ship is 52"x52"x4". Eek.

I wanted to get into one of the showcases but there's none for sale. I'll have to keep looking.

I could use the other fabric in my sewing room instead but I think I'm going to have to order this one for the living room instead. Shiz. nit. :P
